The main element of the first series of Piramida wine is a copper engraving by Ludwig Ig. v Tiefenthal named Maribor with Piramida on the castle hill (1795). It is the only historic work that showcases a small pyramid object after which the hill was named (Piramida = pyramid). We choose this work to highlight this historic fact and the story of origin of the hill’s name.
We designed the wine label to be of custom dimensions so it covers a greater area of the widest part of the bottle. This was done since we wanted each bottle to contain as much of the city as possible and ensure that three bottles placed next to each other reveal the sight of the whole city.
Our design is a mix between old (copper engraving) and modern elements (the chosen typography and the logo of the association, which is also our work). Included on the gift packaging is the story of how wine is a mix different kinds of energy. Energy from the sun, humans, earth and air. Furthermore it emphasises that Renski rizling in a bottle is a tale of people and their love. The label and the tube were printed on a creative paper that with it’s structure mimics the lines of the copper engraving. In addition the logotype and the title on the bottle are made with a technique called heat print, with a copper foil.
